Waiting For Yoga

hello dear knight
it has been too long
i scooped my tears
and carefully placed every drop in a pot
each night i cut and piece your words together
hoping to create a collage of endearment
but to my dismay
i sculpted an image of longing and even sadder grieving
at dawn i send kisses of passion
and letters aching of desire
passed from one star to another
only to be abruptly halted by a careless moon
did you hear my stars howling in despair?
as that crescent moon ripped my gifts apart
shoved them back into the cold desert dune
such a sad affair
rippled on thetwenty-third, ended on a new year

such a sad, bitter affair

How To

how to break
when you feel like breaking
teach yourself to stop
drive yourself to the airport
get on that plane
and leave

how to say no
when no is a word you will dare not utter
open your mouth
breathe fire
spit on their faces if you must
and speak

how to cry
when tears are worthless
burn yourself
pierce a dagger into your fattening heart
rub your eyes
and feel

how to fly
when hands are pulling you down
befriend a bird
talk to an angel
jump from the tallest building you can find
and die

Divisions

colors breathing life
of joy
of pride
of love
of hate
this is the world of blacks and whites

where other colors are too bleak to be acknowledged
do they care for the color of the sun
dare they insult it, it lights the day

and of the earth
portrayed as dirth, the ground they walk on
else they would be falling

then the reds of blood and genuine roses
so full fo culture
what of they?

or the hues of bruises
are they not of worth?

I believe not
but who am i anyhow
I am the mud on your polished shoes
I will never go away

Contemplating Bahrain

what is this tapping
of foreign hammers on a sand-coveted roof
and the cold mist engulf you
here
at the garden of eden.

i wait for time's hand to draw together
an early lunch maybe
tick, tock
a short exchange of words with a former dancer
how is possible love possible
when no promises were made
thinking
the wind shakes the trees to wake
the house is stirring, wake up!
banging now
endless fixing
the birds and ravens chirp continuously
in constant announcement to fly off
summer fear
tick, tock
the ninth hour is close to an end
why do my thoughts end with him
seventy-one days have passed since i last saw him
that kiss lingers still
do i grace his mind once in a long while at least
i dream so
those locals again
dark men with piercing eyes, hair everywhere
some women cloaked, black as their sand-stormed nights
leaving their BMWs and mini coopers unlocked, unwashed
funny how common there are here
whilst garnering millions back home
the dancer is back for another session
i should get her name
my manners has turned as crude as their English
camel dreaming
so, this is Bahrain

Bahrain

the heat burns like tiny daggers of helplessness
biting, gnawing at your skin
even the air suffocates
and an umbrella would look very silly here

we crossed streets without care
loaded with grocery bags filled with cheap supplies
the sun blazes even greater as the hours grow late
little people --- those burly men thought
out of bigotry maybe or, simply, adoration
we will never know
we huffed to our apartment
backs stooped and sweat dripping
a cab would be impractical

before closing the door and
turning on the beloved air conditioner
you sniff for that smell you miss
coconut cream --- so foreign
so far from home
sadly, you close the door
this is your dream, this is reality
live it.
